GPD Win Max is a new portable gaming PC from a company that has released a line of GPD Win and GPD Pocket devices. That’s all GPD has confirmed so far.
But the new set of leaked images of the internal parts of the computer can tell a lot about the upcoming device. It will run on an AMD Ryzen embedded processor. It has an M.2 PCIe slot for SSD. And it seems that he will have at least one physical joystick.
Both figures show a motherboard, a battery, and some internal components, but one image clearly shows the processor and some ports, and the other shows the heatsink covering the chip and the rear ports.
The processor seems to be the AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 series chip.
Initially, GPD was planning to call the Win 2 Max handheld computer, but it seems that the company removed the number 2 from the name to distinguish this system from the GPD Win 2 handheld laptop with an Intel Core m3-7Y30 processor, which was launched in 2018.
Win Max is likely to offer more power thanks to switching from a 7-watt Intel Core m3 processor to a Ryzen chip, which can be configured to work with power from 12 to 54 watts.
It is also possible that the system will be larger than GPD Win 2 (with a 6-inch display) or the first generation of GPD Win (with a 5.5-inch display).
There are some more interesting details that can be gathered from the leaked photos. The system will have a microSD card reader, an Intel wireless card for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, an HDMI port and several USB Type-A ports, as well as a USB Type-C port.
Recently, an image showing the back of the computer.
GPD plans to officially launch Win Max at the end of this year, but it is not yet known how much the device will cost or when it will be released.
Also the other day, the head of GPD published a photo of the device, which resembles the Nintendo Switch game console. Presumably, the new device is a portable game console with a 6 or 7-inch display and Android or Windows software.
