On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that he will launch the ‘ Ehsaas ‘ bachelor’s program, which is Pakistan’s largest ever needs-based bachelor’s degree program.
The first Twitter student wrote that it was the first need-based bachelor of study program in Pakistan’s history. He added that in the next 4 years 200,000 grants will be granted under the program, which is 50,000 annually.
“50% of this for women, under my Ehsaas Pk umbrella, promotes the development of human capital,” added the Prime Minister.

In her speech, PM Special Assistant Sania Nishtar said Imran Khan’s government is committed to supporting economic access to education and providing women with equal opportunities.
The programme, too, encourages students from disadvantaged and remote regions to apply for the program for special needs.
The Prime Minister’s Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Graduates from low-income families was introduced by Ehsaas.
This is the first bursary ever in Pakistan’s history. The necessity-based baccalaureate program would gain over four years more than 200,000 graduates.
Ehsaas scholarship is a major initiative to enhance access to higher education. The government wishes to ensure that no student is deprived of education because of financial need. It is a program for high achievers from low income families.
Students with special needs as well as those from remote and disadvantaged areas are specially encouraged to apply.
The scholarship covers tuition fee and stipend.
- The scholarships are applicable to public sector and participating non-profit private sector colleges and universities
- Students admitted on merit at any public sector university.
- Family income should be below poverty threshold.
How to apply for Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship
- Visit official website of Higher Education Commission to apply online.
- Completed forms along with necessary documents can also be submitted to Financial Aid Office of the respective university.
- Please do not send applications to HEC or BISP directly.
Last Date for Applying
The application deadline is December 10, 2020.
Under this program at least 50,000 scholarships will be given to the deserving students annually.
About 50 percent scholarships will be given to the female students.
